The Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) public art program, perhaps the largest of its kind in the nation, was established to provide an environment that enriches the experience of all who visit the meeting facility. With well over 100 works on display, art has been a popular feature since the facility opened in 1988. Initially, art was incorporated into the original building design with assistance from the state’s Percent for the Arts Program. Since then, due to a commitment to provide civic benefits to our community, the WSCC has offered an ever changing collection, readily accessible at no charge to meeting attendees and the general public.

Seattle Metals Guild Biennial Exhibition
South Galleria
April 11th through July 7th, 2013

The Seattle Metals Guild is about learning. It’s about sharing information, building skills and advancing the field of metalsmithing while broadening the horizons of its members. Founded in 1989, we are a non-profit community of jewelers, metalsmiths, artists, makers –practitioners and metals fans of all tempers, gauges and alloys– who are excited about the traditions and contemporary possibilities of this wonderful art form.

Along with providing affordable educational opportunities to our members and to the general public, our activities include: a bimonthly newsletter, exhibitions, an annual symposium and a series of workshops and lectures on a wide variety of subjects. The SMG relies on the skills, enthusiasm and energy of our members to power the organization and we welcome any and all to come join us!

Passing the Torch
North Galleria
April 11th through June 9th, 2013

Passing the Torch is Seattle Metals Guild’s annual statewide jewelry and metal arts competition and exhibition for Washington State high school students. This program gives students the experience of exhibiting their metal work and encourages them to consider a life in metal arts. Beyond the annual exhibition, Passing the Torch also maintains a network of high schools and teachers teaching metals in Washington State, and provides professional development opportunities for these teachers.
The 2013 PASSING THE TORCH is the 11th Annual Washington State High School Metal Arts Exhibition, sponsored by the Seattle Metals Guild.
